The Logo of the VMY International

The logo of the VMY International was designed in 2000, its author being José Juan Pérez Ramos, a volunteer from the first group that worked at the Secretariat.  This logo was used internationally for the first time during the General Assembly of 2000.

It is inspired by the back of the Miraculous Medal which, according to the International Statutes of the Association of the Miraculous Medal, is their emblem.

The symbolism of the Medal is the same: the “L” and the “M” are interconnected symbolizing Christ and Mary at the foot of the cross (John 19), thus Mary is joined to the Redeemer.  The twelve stars symbolize the twelve apostles and the Church that is gathered together around Mary in the upper room (Acts 3).

The colors are blue and white, Marian colors.  The addition of the letters “J” and “V” to the medal’s monogram symbolize that our Association recognizes the fact that our origins are rooted in the Marian revelations made to Saint Catherine Laboure in the Motherhouse of the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul, in Paris, France.  These revelations gave rise to the Miraculous Medal.

In 2007 the Superior General and the members of the International Council granted permission to make a special medal with this logo, a medal that has been suggested should be used during the Marian Consecration.

We highlight the fact that the official logo of the Association, on the international level, is the one that is seen above.  The only modification that has been approved is that which involves the English speaking countries.  There the letters “VMY” are used but they have the same significance.  This change was made when the Statutes of the United States were approved in 2005, a change that was proposed by them as a sign of union among all the groups in the English speaking countries.
