Self-financing Campaign – Give a little!

“Give a little!” This is the motto of our self-financing campaign which was begun in 2012 and will continue until 2014. From the time of its creation in 1999, the International structure of the Vincentian Marian Youth Association has depended primarily on funding from the Company of the Daughters of Charity and the Congregation of the Mission. Their annual contributions represent 56% of our budget while the contributions from the member countries represent just 9%. We want to change this tendency so that the International structured is 90% self-financed. In order to do this we have to collect a significant amount of funds which in turn will be added to the Patrimonial Fund of the VMY. This will guarantee the self-financing of the International structure of the Vincentian Marian Youth Association for the next twenty-five years. This is a very ambitious program that needs the cooperation of everyone. We believe that now is the time to take this important and decisive step.
Our starting principle is that the majority of these funds will be obtained by the members, groups and councils of the VMY. A specific goal has been established for each national group which can then request support from its members and others who collaborate with the Association on a national as well as an international level.
December 8, 2011 marked the official inauguration of this campaign on an international level and on July 18 of each year we will issue a report on the results of the campaign. The campaign will be concluded on December 31, 2014. We believe that this is an opportunity to involve many people in the organizational consolidation of the Association on both the national and the international level. All of this effort will result in being able to provide better services to young people and better services to those most in need … we will thus be able to respond in a more efficient manner to the challenges that the new forms of poverty present to us.
The International Team is enthusiastic about this campaign. We are convinced that is another opportunity to discover how God multiplies our gifts when we offer to him our own gifts, even if those gifts are only a couple of pieces of bread and a few fish.
To Jesus through Mary.
