Lenten retreat Valencia 2011
During the last weekend (25-27 March) we had the great opportunity to share with the VMY Valencia in a Lenten retreat in the town of Siete Aguas, where 24 people participated including 19 young people, 3 Daughters of Charity, Vincentian priest and a catechist. Friday prayer called us from a “plug yourself on” in silence, contemplation, meditation on the word … In the morning we were invited to a prayer “walk with Jesus”, with the proposal we delve into ourselves.
The retreat started with the title “I follow your steps” by the explanation that involves taking
a target to follow, and that this response to his proposal is an attitude of listening and obedience to walk the road without conditions. It was a valuable morning of reflection and internalization of the Word of God, which led us to take a tour of key moments in the life of Jesus, until we find the essential elements of each disciple, see and listen, and reminding us in every moment that service to others, to the smallest, is the way to participate in the work of Jesus.
During Saturday afternoon we were invited to that meeting with the father healing through the Sacrament of Reconciliation with an “I’m coming home” in the light of the parable of the prodigal son, who reminds us how happy father feels when his lost son returns home.
This moment of grace could not end otherwise than with the Eucharist on Sunday, where enlightened by the readings of the day, we saw the need to ask the Father to fill us living water that only comes from him. We thank God and the members of VMY Valencia for sharing this time of grace.
