VISIT TO RIO DE JANEIRO, 2008

            When she arrived to Rio de Janeiro on April 24, Yasmine had the chance of discovering the Archives (Museum) of the Province of the Daughters of Charity and collaborating in the Project of Vincentian Family “Ozanamovel” that assists some inhabitants of the streets of the North Zone of the city. On the morning of April 25, Yasmine, together with some young people and some Advisors visited the Corcovado; they could admire the stunning sculpture of the Christ Redeemer and enjoy the wonderful panoramic sight of the city.

On April 25 -27, the X Provincial Assembly was carried out within an elective atmosphere and with the presence of about 70 young people and some advisors. During this gathering, Yasmine talked about “The Challenges and Perspectives of VMY” and the “Marian Consecration” On the afternoon of Saturday 26, she participated in the monthly meeting of VF Rio de Janeiro and she thought with the participants over how VMY can walk with other branches of the Family. On the same day, the Province elected its new Provincial Council, leaded by Felipe Lopes Silva. On Sunday 27, nine young carried out their Consecration to Jesus with Mary within the Eucharistic Celebration presided over by the Provincial Advisor, Fr, Geraldo Barbosa. In the afternoon Yasmine met the Provincial Council to discuss some questions of interests for the Association in Rio and Brazil.

On Monday 28 Yasmine livened up the Annual Formation of VMY Sisters Advisors and visited the residences of elder Sisters (Mère Blanchot and Rosalie Rendu House). On April 29, Yasmine and some advisors visited the group of VMY “Mother of Hope” in the House of the Poor (Novo Friburgo). It is a group composed of handicapped people who have assumed the Prayer apostolate in and for the Association.

On April 30, the last day of her stay in Rio, Yasmine visited the Vincentian social work of Sepetiba and Novo Sepetiba. In the afternoon she met the Vincentian Family of Petropolis at Santa IsabelCollege, she shared with them the international progress of VMY and other topics of interest for the VF.
