VISIT TO RECIFE, 2008
In spite of the briefness of Yasmine’s visit to the Province of Recife, her presence in the northeast of Brazil was a joy time for the members and leaders of the Association. Making the most of the National Assembly, Yasmine met the Provincial Council on May 22, in order to reflect about some important topics of interest. On Sunday 25, Yasmine presented a conference about VMY International and the 4 pillars of the association before 150 young people who were in the Provincial House of the Daughters of Charity in Recife. The next day she travelled to MaceioCity. After the Eucharistic Celebration and a delicious dinner the members of this region shared a fraternal moment marked by a concert of Prisma Choir (it is conducted by an ex-member of VMY) and by a dialogue with the youth and with the advisors. On May 27 Yasmine visited NatalCity and met the Regional Councils of Natal and Pau dos Ferros. At night she had the chance of meeting the youth of both regions and sharing a talk about VMY International and about other topics related to the Association and the Vincentian Family. The visit to the Province of Recife constitutes the last phase of this quite long pilgrimage of our International President around Brazil that started in Curitiba on April 18. On May 28 she left the Brazilian lands to continue her service at the International Secretariat (Madrid). We entrust the Holy Virgin Mary the fruits of these encounters, meetings and fraternity moments. May they be an impulse for the Association in Brazil to continue being a witness of the Love of God for the less privileged. May they help the members to find, within the Vincentian Charisma, experienced in community and as a Church, the strength to build a better world and a young Church, servant of the poor.
