Director General Visits the International Secretariat

Madrid, Spain October 6, 2004

On October 6, representatives of the Vincentian Family of Spain and the JMV International Secretariat had a “coffee meeting” with the new Superior General, Fr. Gregory Gay, CM. After the welcome remarks from the Provincial Visitor of Madrid, Fr. Gregory thanked those who were present and expressed the need to work as one family to serve the poor as well his joyful expectation of being able to participate in the future assemblies of the many branches of the family (JMV, AIC, AMM…)

After the brief encounter, Fr. Gregory, accompanied by Fr. Teodoro Barquin, visited our office wherein a brief meeting was held. Each one of us shared to him the activities of the Secretariat and our respective tasks. We then discussed about the 2nd General Assembly and our participation during the World Youth Day 2005. The Father General is looking forward to participating both activities as could be afforded by his availability.

It was a moment of sharing filled with simplicity, brotherhood and joy.  We were able to witness the sense of humor of our Director General and his interest for the Association even while he was the Visitor and National Director of Central America.
