VMY INTERNACIONAL COUNCIL MEETING, July 2007
From July 2 to 7, the VMY Internacional Council has met in the General Curia of the Congregation of the Mission, in Rome, for carrying out its second ordinary meeting of this year. The first three days, were oriented to spend the time relaxing and knowing the “eternal city” together, a deserved rest after all that intense hard preparation for the Council’s meeting, in which 22 reports were studied. It was so enriching to share the prayer, the Mass, the meals and the expansion moments with the General Curia members as well as the moments in which we could widely talk to each other. An interesting experience was the visit we did to the meals service and the School of Italian for foreigners that St. Egidio Community has in Trastevere, and the prayer and friendship moment shared with them.
Since Thursday 5, we started the working sessions, in which we study the most important topics for the VMY’s progress. We have also planned the Encounters and visits for the next semester. The most relevant points we have discussed in these sessions were: *Situation of VMY in the countries and report of the visits carried out to Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea. *Dialogue about the work in the International Secretariat and about our Web site. *Dialogue about concrete steps we can give to advance in our commitment of searching the auto-financing, involving all our members in the maintenance of the International level. *Organization of the next International Meetings: European and Middle Eastern VMY National Councils Meeting, American National Councils Meeting and the participation of VMY in the World Youth Day, Sidney 2008. *Final Approval of the new formation document for the National Councils, entitled: “WORKING IN VMY, IN A PROJECT WAY” *Finally, Fr. Gregory presented us in a simple clear way some reflections about the “Systemic Change” (Reflection topic of the Vincentian Family for the next two years) and about the “Endways of the adults members”. We continue betting for the other branches of the VF as the natural endways option of our members.
We place the fruit of our work in Immaculate Mary’s hands and we count on the prayers of all our members, for the sown seed to grow and produce abundant fruit, for the good of the young people as well as the neediest. |
