VMY INTERNACIONAL COUNCIL MEETING, 2007 From January 18 to 21, the VMY Internacional Council has met in Madrid, for its first ordinary Encounter in 2007. All the Council’s members have attended (Yasmine, Fr. Gregory, Sr. Wivine, Denise, Dorys, Maria Jesus, Sr. Maria Pilar and Fr. Pedro) and have been welcome and assisted by the three young Secretariat’s volunteers (Carla, Ghislain and Emma). 1.Situation of VMY in the countries (French-speaking, English-speaking,Spanish-speaking and Portuguese-speaking countries). 2.Evaluation of the International Secretariat advance: Website, bulletin, volunteers, tasks… 3.Evaluation of the visits and encounters carried out in 2006: Western Africa (Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast and Togo) and Latin-America (Colombia and Dominican Republic); Latin-American Encounter of Vincentian Youth Pastoral in Venezuela and Central American Encounter in Honduras. 3.Approval of 2006 balance sheet and the budget for 2007, focusing our attention on the countries contribution’s analysis. 4.Study of a new document: “Working in VMY in a project way” 5.Results of the survey about “Marian Consecration in VMY” which was sent in may, 2006 to the countries. 6.Reflection about possible Continental Encounters, to evaluate the fulfilment of the II General Assembly, Paris, 2005 commitments and to start the preparation for the III General Assembly 2010: Europe and Middle East (December, 2007), America (July-August, 2008), Asia (2009), Africa. 7.Revision of the Formation Commission’ tasks. 8.Next Meeting with the International Vincentian Family (February 1st and 2nd, 2007, in Rome) and other common activities with some of the branches Visits to the countries in 2007 (Central Africa, Brazil and other countries for firming up) 9.Annual motto 2007 and other points. As you see, it was a very full agenda!! We ask Our Lord for all this reflections and decisions to serve for the young and poor people benefit. The next International Council Meeting will be in the General Curia of the Congregation of the Mission in Rome, from July 5th to 7th, 2007. |

They have been intense days of common prayer and reflection about the most important topics for VMY life:
During our meeting, we affectively congratulate Dorys Castillo, who got married on January 6th to Miguel Velazquez. The Vincentian Family continues growing!! As an affection demonstration, the Association has given to them an icon of the Holy Family and the apostolic benediction of the Holy Father Benedict XVI for the new home. Sr. Maria Pilar Hurtado de Saracho, who is the new delegate of the International Secretariat, participated in the Council for the first time. The encounter was closed on Sunday 21st at noon, joining the Encounter of Advisors of VMY Spain. 
The Eucharist was presided over by our Director General. There, all the audience welcomed Irune Fernandez, new VMY Spain National President, and thanked and said goodbye to Begoña Gonzalez (former president). Our Yasmine presented the new International team and made public the new that the Superior General has appointed Fr, Pedro Castillo as VMY Sub-Director General and Director of the International Secretariat for a period of three years.
