GETTING-TO-KNOW GAMES

1. -     YOU ARE....?

  Objective: To introduce oneself.

As soon as the people start arriving, we propose moving around and getting to know each other.  We write the name of each person in a card.  When we have written down all the names, each one will distribute the cards to the persons whose names are indicated therein.  Are we able to give each person the card that has his/her name on it?

2. - DIFFERENT GREETINGS.

Objectives: To introduce oneself, for self-esteem.

We sit down forming a big circle. Someone begins by saying the name of another person.

Paul, give me a handshake.  They stand up, greet each other, exchange places and Paul continues with the game.

The one whose turn it is to speak can request for a different kind of greeting: Susan, give me a hug.

3. - THE NAME AND THE NEWSPAPER.

Objectives: To introduce oneself, to be at ease with one another.

We stand forming a big circle.  I go to the middle with a rolled newspaper.  I say the name of someone in the circle (for example: Daisy) and then I pat her with the newspaper.  If I pat Daisy before she calls out another person in the circle, Daisy goes to the middle and I take her place.  The activity begins anew.

If Daisy says the name of another person in the circle before I have patted her with the newspaper, I have to go and pat the person whose name has just been called.  The activity continues in the same manner.

4. - BINGO OF NAMES.

  Objective: To introduce oneself.

This is played in the same manner as the usual bingo.  Upon entering the hall, you write your complete name on a piece of paper.  This is placed together with the rest in a pouch.  At the same time, you will receive a piece of fine cardboard with ten squared sections.  When moving around to meet the other participants, you will ask for their names (up to seven names) and you will write them inside any of the squared boxes, leaving three blank ones.

In a given moment, someone starts taking the names from the pouch and calling them out loud. Whoever has them written down starts crossing them out until all the names have been crossed out.  At that moment, you can shout "BINGO” and you can claim a prize (a round of kisses, a massage, etc...).
