TURN EVERYTHING TO LOVE: A rule of life for Lay Members of the Vincentian Family. Fr. Robert Maloney, CM.

With his simple and direct style, Fr. Maloney gives us wise guidelines based on the Holy Scriptures for the daily life of the lay members of the Vincentian Family. It is not a study about Theology of the laity, but a practical itinerary that allows us to create the necessary environment to reach the holiness since the Vincentian charisma: Given to God in Baptism, in the service of the others, especially the poor. This Rule “wants to create a free and open space in your life where the loving presence of God will touch you…Its aim is to liberate you, so that in accepting God’s love you might love others practically in return” (foreword). Therefore, Fr. Maloney suggest us several practices and wise advice of holy men and women who have gone before us in our Vincentian Family, seeking to follow Christ faithfully, as evangelizer and servant of the poor. This is a proposal to express, in a creative and modern way, the essential values of the Vincentian tradition (Christ as the Center, Listening to the Word of God, Vocation, prayer, virtues, common life, service and mission, Marian devotion), in the complex changing circumstances of the nowadays world.

It is edited by the editorial “La Milagrosa” from Madrid (Spain); it is available in Spanish, English and French. Its price is 8€. The members of VMY can place their orders directly to their contact person in the VMY International Secretariat: secinterjmv@telefonica.net / jmvinter@telefonica.net.

THE VINCENTIAN FAMILY (VINCENTIANA, Year 50 Number 4, 2006).

This special number of the VINCENTIANA Magazine wants to update the general information about some of the main branches of the Vincentian family in the World, and it replaces the “dossier”, published 11 years ago, in September 1995. It is a useful tool to favor the mutual knowledge, appreciating the characteristics of each of them, fostering the union and the team work for the poor. We do not love the things we do not know! Therefore, we think it is important to count on this material in our formation itineraries as a precious means to strengthen our membership to the spiritual family of St. Vincent de Paul, to promote a bigger lay significance in the bosom of our own family, to stimulate a bigger communication and coordination among us and to stimulate our commitment in favor of the most needy.

This magazine is edited by the General Curia of the Congregation of the Mission in Rome. It is available in Spanish, English and French. Its price is 6 €. The members of VMY can place their orders directly to their contact person in the VMY International Secretariat: secinterjmv@telefonica.net / jmvinter@telefonica.net.

SAINT CATHERINE LABOURE, the witness of the Miraculous Medal. Fr. Martiniano Leon, CM.

This is a new biography of the “Saint of the silence”, who is presented by Fr Leon in a pedagogical simple way that reaches out to young people. “The secret of her life was not only in the fact of hiding her witness identity, but in putting admirably together the splendor of the apparitions with the humility of her service… From the visions to the service; and from the service to the visions” This new presentation of the St. Catherine’s figure, is an incentive for those of us who love the Virgin Miraculous and want to continue the order She placed to the Vincentian family in 1830. It is a good reading for this year 2007, in which we celebrated the 160 anniversary of the Pontifical Approval of VMY. You can get it in the Editorial “La Milagrosa”, of Madrid (Spain). It is available only in Spanish. Its price is 11 €. You must place your orders directly to the Editorial: lamilagrosa@telefonica.net / www.editoriallamilagrosa.net .
