This short document is the result of a request made by many of the National Directors and other Advisors who took part in the First General Assembly of JMV in Rome 2000. It was approved by the JMV International Council on May 25, 2002 and, as the reader will observe, presents the profile of the Advisor, a description of his/her mission in JMV, some characteristics of a special pedagogical style that the Advisors of the Association are being asked to use, a list of some of the concrete functions of the Adviser, and a section containing some practical aspects.
Fr. Robert Maloney, Director General, says in his presentation: “I highly recommend this document for the study and use of all the National Directors as well as for all Vincentians, Daughters of Charity, and other priests, sisters, and lay men and women who serve as Advisors within JMV. I want to express my deepest gratitude to you who serve as Advisors. Since the very beginning of the Association more than 150 years ago, your role has been a crucial one. I ask the Lord to give each of you a deep share in his wisdom and love. Through your generous contribution the Lord has poured out countless blessings on the members of JMV. I am confident that he will continue to do so.”
