Specific objectives:
- To deepen together on the challenges proposed by the First General Assembly of Rome 2000 and reflect on our international dimension and conscience as members of the Vincentian Family with a view to the Second JMV International Assembly.
- To open ourselves to other realities in order to be enriched so that we can create one single human family that will benefit from the positive aspects globalization has to offer. (Final Document, Rome 2000, no. 6)
- To channel our work by promoting teamwork and committing ourselves to share materials, experiences, encounters... above all with those countries who are just beginning their journey as JMV
- To be conscious of the need to develop communion among the different national groups and associations in Asia through the International Council and Secretariat, facilitating and exchanging information, supporting concrete projects, using the website and promoting interaction among the young of different Asian countries.
Ø History of JMV
Ø Reality of JMV in the different countries
Ø The foundation stones of JMV: Spirituality – Formation – Community – Mission
Ø Role and Functions of the members of the National Council.
Ø Activities of the International Council and Secretariat for 2004
Ø Challenges of JMV in Asia in the new millennium with a view to the next International Assembly.
Prior Preparation of the Participants:
In order to prepare for this encounter, we would like to ask all the participants to study the following:
- Final Document of the First JMV General Assembly – Rome 2000
- Role and Functions of Advisors in the JMV
We also ask the participants to reflect on the different topics and set up meetings as a National Council to discuss these so that you will be the bearers of the opinions and views of the members of the Association of your respective country.
It is also important for the participants to be the bearers of the lights and shadows that surround their reality and Vincentian commitment.
We ask the participants to reflect on new channels to grow in communion and communication among the different countries, taking into consideration the cultural, historical, economic and numerical diversity.
Each Council will prepare a brief written presentation of their country, highlighting the following:
Ø Statistical information
Ø Most significant events and activities in 2003.
Ø Plan of Activities for 2004
Ø How are the foundation stones of JMV (Spirituality, Formation, Community and Mission) being lived out
Ø Experiences with the Vincentian Family (projects: achievements / difficulties)
Ø Suggestions or requests to the International Council and Secretariat
The method to be used will be, above all, participative. Some persons will present the topic so that, in reflection groups and during the plenary sessions, the participants will be able to deepen and summarize the inputs received.
We will use different dynamics for everyone to participate. The result of the work of the participants and the conclusions of the plenary sessions shall be collected by a small team who will make the final synthesis of the Encounter.
Importance shall be given to the exchange of experiences as well as the concerns arising from the reality of each country.
