This year the Association of Children of Mary Immaculate – Vincentian Marian Youth Philippines held the 33rd National Convention at Betania Retreat House, Cebu City last April 21-23, 2017 with the theme “Let us give life to the Vincentian Charism.” The convention was attended by 136 participants from 37 units all over the Philippines. Participants was welcomed by a Sinulog Dance rendered by the Children of Mary- Mabolo and Basak units.
There was viewing of Marian Display with Fr. Rolando "Choi" Limjoco, CM as the curator. Fr. Rolando Limjoco emphasized that Mary is a disciple of Jesus. As Vincentians and CoMers we are challenged to spread the good news and make Mama Mary more known to others.
The first input was given by Fr. Eugenio “Dondon” Navida, CM, entitled “Let us Give Life to the Vincentian Charism.” Fr. Dondon emphasized on Welcoming the stranger/Entering the world of stranger, Openness, Offer our lives and Operate.
The second input was given by Sr. Ma. Elisa "Lisha" Barranco, DC entitled “COM-VMY and its Challenges to the Advisors and Officers.” Sr. Lisha emphasized to Dream and commit with greater love.
The Presentation of the General Assembly Final Document 2015 was in a form of panel discussion with the following elements: a.) Spiritual life, b) Formation, c) Apostolate and Evangelization, d) Vincentian Family Collaboration and e) Care and Use of Material Goods. After the panel discussion, each units were group according to their regions and come up with a three-year plan and commitment to the association.
On the last day of convention, each region presented their Year 1 Plan of action and the National Executive board will follow up this plans. Sr. Ma. Elisa Barranco, DC also presented the revisions of the COM-VMY Philippines Manual.
The convention ended with the distribution of certificates and Mission Sending led by Sr. Ma. Elisa Barranco, DC. As Vincentians will always leave a distinct mark on anyone who are piously observing it. The miraculous medal is a reminder of God’s divine plan for salvation and like Mary, members of the association are invited to take part in this great salvation mystery.
