"Walk with us as we deepen our faith in this year of Mercy" was the official theme of this year´s Annual Walk for Mary last September 04, 2016 (Sunday) in Cebu- Philippines. The activity was in honor of Mother Mary´s birthday celebration last September 8 and was spearheaded by the Vincentian Marian Youth- Cebu Philippines. This has become an annual activity in the city where all Marian devotees, from children to senior citizens gather to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary with the number of participants increasing each year. The procession started at the break of dawn at the Fuente Osmena Circle and this year was attended by thousands of people along with 15 Virgin Mary floats (carrozas).
The long procession was culminated by a holy Eucharist officiated by Cebu Archdiocese Auxillary Bishop Oscar Jaime Florencio at the Plaza Independencia. He said in his homily that the Blessed Mother is always walking with us and has never deserted us. Bishop Florencio ended his sermon by reminding everyone that as Catholics, we are the face of the mercy of the Father. As a tribute to Mother Mary, a dance tribute was presented along with the singing of the Magnificat. Certificates were then given to all units and parishes who joined the significant event.
