The VMY Philippines National Council, true to its commitment of reaching out to the members of the Association has been busy visiting the different units of the different provinces not just to empower and animate the active groups, but to inspire and re-establish the inactive ones.
Sr. Ma. Elisa B. Barranco,DC , National sister Advisor of the Philippines with the 2 members of the National Executive Board , Geneveve Sy and Sheena Tulda visited a Diocese in Mindanao called Ozamis City, Misamis Occidental last July 8-10 to reorganize the association of the province. They gave sessions about the association and elected new set of officers. The new Regional Sister Advisor was introduced in the person of Sr. Rochelie Blancia, DC.
In August, the National Executive Board in the National Capital Region of the country joined the meeting of the NCR council and their Unit Visitation.
Last October 7, the National Sister Advisor, Sr. Ma. Elisa B. Barranco, DC together with a Lay Regional Advisor, Ms. Jessica Pulvera, visited Negros Occidental and met the Archdiocesan Officers there. The University of Recolletos, administered by the Augustinian Priests, hosted the gathering. The CoM-VMY unit in this university will celebrate their 40 years anniversary on Dec. 30, 2016. The Holy Eucharist started the activity and session followed about our association was given to them. Then the newly appointed Regional Sister Advisor, Sr. Teresita Laguna, DC was introduced to the group. She was warmly accepted and promised of support was assured to her.
Then the following day, October 8, 2016, the National Council went to western Visayas Region to visit and meet the CoM-VMY Archdiocesan Officers and the Moderators/ Advisors. The Colegio de san Jose unit hosted the meeting. A short talk about the Association was given and the new Regional Sister Advisor, Sr. Marie Annabelle Escoto, DC was officially introduced to the group. The visits were meaningful, inspiring and full of hope.
On the same day, October 8- Archdiocesan COM-VMY Convention was organized at St. Francis Assisi Parish in Buhi, Camarines Sur in Bicol region. There were 250 members who attended this activity coming from 30 different Parishes from the Dioceses of Caceres in Bicol. The collaborative effort of the Archdiocesan Priest Advisor, Sister and Lay Advisors with the officers made the said activity very successful.
On October 29, in Siargao Island in Mindanao, a Vicarial Marian Congress was organized and participated by 585 CoM- VMY members from 9 Parishes. Most of them are students and young adults.
The re-orientation and re-organization of the Asilo Cebu CoM unit was held last November 6, 2016. Sr. Lisha together with the Cebu Archdiocesan Adviser, Jessica Pulvera, gave an input for the members. Their happy faces explicitly shows the meaningful encounter they had.
